Subtle Ways to Save Money on Your Wedding
It is no secret that weddings can be expensive. Luckily, there are plenty of ways you can save significantly and still host an amazing wedding. These five tips can help you save thousands of dollars, and no one will no the difference!

It is no secret that weddings can be quite expensive. Even a micro wedding has an average cost of about $10,000. Through all the planning, you will most likely find yourself looking for ways to save money without sacrificing too much or appearing “cheap” to your guests. Luckily, there are plenty of subtle ways you can save money on your wedding and still show your friends and family an amazing time.

5 Easy Ways to Save Hundreds (or Thousands!) On Your Wedding

Have Your Wedding on a Friday or Sunday

Saturdays are, by far, the most popular day of the week for weddings. This is largely in consideration of guests, who might have to work on weekdays. Likewise, Sundays are for traveling back home in anticipation of returning to work on Monday.
That being said, having your wedding on a Friday or Sunday is one of the easiest ways you can save on your venue. In fact, the difference between a Saturday wedding and a Friday evening wedding can amount to thousands of dollars. This is a savings that will surely be understandable to your guests, despite any potential inconvenience for them.

Make a Wedding Website

Having a website with any necessary details, including locations and dates for other events, registries, and hotel information means you won’t have to include this information on separate cards in your save-the-dates and invitations. You will only need to include one extra insert with the website address and a statement directing guests to it for additional details. This can save you hundreds of dollars on cardstock and postage.

On the subject of cardstock, it is also a good idea to plan on having one program per couple or family for the ceremony. Not only will you save money on paper and printing, you will also be reducing your wedding’s carbon footprint-always a good thing!

 Buy A Sample Dress

If you are looking for a high end gown with a more accessible price, consider shopping at a sample sale. Sample sales are used by many retailers to quickly pare down surplus merchandise. This means you can find unbelievable deals on dresses, which are often marked down significantly (sometimes up to 90%).
You will need to plan your dress shopping for when these sales events occur. Most retailers hold sample sales twice per year, usually in Spring and Fall or early Winter. However, even if it is outside of these times, it will still be worth it to ask your retailer if they have any samples they are looking to get rid of.

Stick to a Few Types of Flowers

You can save significantly on your floral arrangements by choosing only a few different varieties. This is because your florist will likely get a percentage discount by ordering flowers in bulk. And don’t worry about your arrangements appearing boring or drab. A single vase filled with just a few, fresh hydrangeas has a stunning and elegant impact.

Neat trick: You can also bulk up your centerpieces with seasonal fruit, like oranges or lemons. These can help your arrangements appear lush and inviting while reducing the cost of more expensive blooms and greenery.

Let the Photographer Go Home Early

While we feel you should never skimp on a quality photographer for your wedding day, you can skimp a little on the time you book them. Many couples hire a photographer for the entire event, which is usually between twelve and fourteen hours. Reducing the time your photographer is onsite by 2-4 hours can save you thousands of dollars.

You can help your photographer make the most of his or her time by providing a list of “must have” shots so you can be certain the most important moments will be captured.
